The mission of Animus Movement is to inspire, educate, and engage the community through the art of contemporary modern dance. The company is committed to providing opportunities for diverse artistic expression, cultivating an appreciation for dance, and supporting the development of both emerging and established dancers. Through our youth program, Animus Iuventus, we provide pre-professional dancers with performance opportunities that foster creativity, discipline and artistic growth, preparing them for future careers in dance. The company loves to collaborate with their dancers, as well as other choreographers, musicians, visual artists and beyond.
Animus Movement was founded in NYC in February 2021, and in October 2022 expanded to Colorado. Receiving several festival invitations, the company has performed at Dixon Place, the KnJ Theater, Triskelion, Mignolo Arts Center, Sam Scripps Studios, Green Space and the TADA Theater in NYC, and at the Dairy Arts Center, the Parsons Theatre, the Byron Theater in the Newman Center, and the Children's Museum Denver in Colorado. In the last three years Animus Movement has created four dance films, co-produced shows at New York Live Arts and Ballet Arts, City Center in NYC, and produced two shows at the Nomad Playhouse in Boulder.
Animus Movement is a project-based dance company. We are always seeking creative collaboration in interdisciplinary contexts, be it with choreographers, musicians, visual artists and beyond. Email us at beck@animusmovement.com
